Since prominent ears are considered a congenital malformation, otoplasty may be covered by French health insurance in the following cases:
- in children
- in adults with significant social impact. Other adult cases are considered cosmetic requests and are therefore not covered.
Any additional fees are the responsibility of the patient or their supplemental insurance, in full or in part.
A cosmetic quote or notice of additional fees is provided to the patient following the pre-operative consultation, allowing them to inquire about possible coverage by French social security and their supplemental insurance.
The placement of earFold implants may also be covered by French social security. If the procedure is reimbursed, the Earfold™ implants themselves are not reimbursed (around €1000 per implant).
