A combined peel is an aesthetic medicine procedure that treats the different layers of the skin so as to renew it and thereby reduce skin imperfections. It restores the facial skin's natural radiance and gives it a fresh start.
Principle of a combined peel
The term "combined peel" refers to the use of several products to maximize the effects of the peel while limiting side effects. Due to their effectiveness, the large majority of peels performed at the practice are combined peels.
A peel is indicated for correcting skin imperfections on the face, neck, décolletage and backs of the hands. It notably corrects a dull complexion, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, tired-looking eyes, under-eye circles, pigmented spots and facial skin laxity.

MESOPEEL® MD RETIFLASH
- Principle: Creates an immediate glow effect. Revitalizes the complexion and adds radiance while reducing skin imperfections.

- Composition: TCA (33%), kojic acid (5%), hydrogen peroxide (Hâ‚‚Oâ‚‚).
What happens during a combined peel
Face diagnostic consultation
To support you in treating the signs of facial aging and help determine whether a peel treatment matches your needs and your expectations, the practice offers a face diagnostic consultation. During this diagnostic, an in-depth assessment of your facial skin will help develop a tailored treatment protocol.
Before the procedure
Any exfoliating cream containing glycolic acid should be discontinued (at least 48 hours before the first session). Taking aspirin should also be avoided in the five days preceding the procedure.
Before the peel, the skin needs to be cleansed with a cloth or cotton pad. The skin is degreased with an alcohol-based solution using light rubbing with gauze.
For particularly sensitive areas, a protective cream (Mesolips protectant) may be applied. Its exclusive texture creates a thin, transparent protective film with a hydrating effect.
Application of the peel
The procedure involves applying the product to the area to be treated after cleansing the facial skin. Applying the product takes about 20 to 30 minutes. A sensation of warmth and tingling is felt. Temporary redness is visible.
The number of layers (between 1 and 3) and the exposure time (up to 5 minutes per layer) depend on the type of peel used, the treatment goal, and the thickness and condition of the skin. Rubbing and pressure increase the depth of exfoliation.
After the peel
At the end of the treatment, a retinol-based product is applied to seal the peel and optimize results.
A mask may be applied to soothe and restore the skin. This mask is left on for 15 to 20 minutes before applying a regenerating cream.
The treatment ends with the application of an SPF 50+ sunscreen, as it is essential to protect the skin from UV rays after a peel.
Recovery and results of a light facial peel
For the 3 to 7 days following a facial peel, post-peel care must be performed by applying the prescribed moisturizing cream. More sensitive than usual, the skin may indeed peel following the procedure. These reactions fade within a few days, revealing renewed, more beautiful skin.
Between sessions and once the skin has recovered, the doctor may advise applying a moisturizing cream depending on the indication.

To achieve an optimal result, 2 to 6 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart may be needed. To maintain the benefit of the results, maintenance sessions can be considered every 6 months.
Contraindications and precautions:
- In the presence of herpes or atopic dermatitis, a peel is absolutely contraindicated.
- In case of treatment with retinoids (for example, Roaccutane) or Vitamin A, the treatment is relatively contraindicated.
- Patients on antiplatelet treatment (Warfarin, Heparin, Aspirin, NSAIDs) may experience bleeding and the development of scabs.
- The treatment must not be used in patients with an active skin condition.
- A facial peel cannot be performed on inflammation, irritation, or abrasion.
- A facial peel must not be used together with other aesthetic treatments such as microdermabrasion, electrolysis, waxing, laser hair removal, depilatory waxes, or bleaching agents.
- It is essential to follow post-treatment requirements after the procedure, notably sun protection requirements (using a high-SPF sunscreen).
- The presence of excoriated acne can cause serious infections, and even scarring later on.
