What is LaseMD Ultra?
Offered by the Lutronic laboratory, LaseMD Ultra is an innovative medical laser that combines sub-ablative fractional laser technology with a device for applying cosmeceutical active ingredients in the form of cosmeceutical ampoules.
LaseMD Ultra treats pigmented spots, improves skin texture and reduces signs of skin aging.
The principle of the fractional laser
The LaseMD Ultra laser is a non-ablative thulium-type laser with a wavelength of 1927 nm. Unlike traditional resurfacing lasers, it treats superficial skin lesions and irregularities thanks to a sub-ablative fractional technology.
The energy from the LaseMD Ultra laser is delivered at the epidermal level to induce the formation of reservoirs through water evaporation across micro-channels in the stratum corneum. The creation of micro-channels in the upper dermis stimulates the synthesis of collagen, elastin fibers and hyaluronic acid by the body, allowing for deep skin regeneration.
The contribution of active ingredients in the cosmeceutical ampoules
After the fractional laser pass, ampoules of active ingredients are applied to the skin. In the form of nanoparticles, these active ingredients penetrate the skin through the micro-channels created by the laser's action. These micro-channels remain open for 8 to 48 hours to allow for optimal penetration of the active ingredient.
The cosmeceutical ampoules have been designed so that the size of the liposomes carrying the cosmeceutical active ingredient matches the size of the channels created by LaseMD Ultra, resulting in specific synergistic effectiveness.
Four active-ingredient ampoules can be used as part of a LaseMD Ultra treatment to customize the treatment and optimize the result achieved:
- Vitamin C: to give the skin a radiant boost
- Tranexamic acid: to treat melasma, hyperpigmentation and redness
- Retinol (Vitamin A): for an anti-aging action and to treat active acne
- Resveratrol: to treat acne, oily skin and excess sebum
For treatments performed at the practice, tranexamic acid and retinol ampoules are often favored.

What happens during a LaseMD Ultra treatment
Before the treatment

What happens during a LaseMD Ultra session?
A LaseMD Ultra session lasts between 20 and 30 minutes on average. Several laser passes are performed to maximize the treatment's effectiveness and achieve a uniform result.
During the treatment, you will feel tingling as well as a warm sensation caused by the laser's action. This is not a painful treatment, but slight discomfort is felt.
After the active ingredients are applied, a cream or mask is applied to the treated area to soothe and hydrate the skin after the treatment.
After the treatment
LaseMD Ultra is a non-invasive treatment with particularly mild recovery. Slight redness may be observed in the treated area in the days following the treatment, but this can easily be covered with makeup. For more aggressive treatments on scarring after-effects, to re-tension the eyelid skin, or to treat fine lines, edema and fine marks may persist for 5 to 10 days.
Unlike laser treatments from previous generations, fractional lasers such as LaseMD Ultra involve no social downtime. Daily activities can resume immediately after the session.
To optimize the treatment's result, you will be given ampoules of the active ingredient used during the session, to be applied at home morning and evening.
Results achieved with LaseMD Ultra
Is the result immediately visible?
As with other treatments using fractional laser technology, the result is not immediately visible at the end of the session. Indeed, the principle behind this type of treatment relies on stimulating the tissue to trigger skin regeneration.
Results therefore appear gradually, over several weeks, as the body produces the collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid needed to correct skin imperfections and rejuvenate the skin.
How many sessions are needed?
While an improvement in skin quality starts to appear after a single session, several sessions are necessary to observe an optimal result.
The number of sessions to consider will be determined during a consultation based on your expectations, the condition of your skin and the characteristics of the treated area. Generally speaking, the treatment's result will be optimal with a protocol involving between 3 and 6 sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart.
