Under-eye circles and bags treatments

Under the generic term "under-eye circles" or "bags", several different conditions affecting the lower eye contour area are grouped together. These include hollow circles, discolored circles (which can be blue or brown), and puffy circles (commonly called "bags" under the eyes). In some patients, these conditions can also be combined: bluish hollow circles, brown and puffy circles, etc.

The appearance of under-eye circles depends on several factors, notably the thinness of the skin, skin laxity, and the loss of fat and muscle volume around the eyes linked to aging.

Among the surgical and aesthetic medicine techniques that have proven effective in correcting under-eye circles are lipostructure (micro-lipofilling of the under-eye area), filler injections, chemical peels, blepharoplasty and the cheek lift.

Cheek lift: Surgery for hollow under-eye circles and cheekbones

The cheek lift is a surgery that beautifies the eyes and rejuvenates the central part of the face. It acts on hollow under-eye circles, the cheekbones and the nasolabial folds.

Depigmenting peel to correct brown circles

Caused by an excess of melanin, pigmented (brown) under-eye circles can be corrected with a depigmenting peel treatment.

Filling hollow under-eye circles with hyaluronic acid

Hollow under-eye circles can be treated with an injection of a filler such as hyaluronic acid along the bony rim of the eye socket, beneath the eyelid muscle.

Lower blepharoplasty: surgery for puffy circles

A lower blepharoplasty is an eye-area surgery that corrects the presence of puffy under-eye circles and fatty bags under the eyes.

Under-eye circle lipofilling: Micro-lipofilling of hollow circles

The goal of lipofilling for hollow under-eye circles (or micro-lipofilling) is to restore the fat pad naturally present against the orbital bone.
